The Science Festival was officially opened on April 22 in the Three Faculties Building. More than 200 activities on "Intelligence" await visitors until April 27.

The Festival was opened by prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split’s rector, expressing his satisfaction with the event and especially with great interest of children already on the event’s first day.

This Festival reminds us that knowledge is the key to understanding the world around us, and education leads to future we build together - Rector Ljutić said, announcing that the University will very soon establish a Centre for Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, like the ones that exist in Germany and Bulgaria, the third being in Croatia. The centre should be located within MedILS Institute, which has become part of University of Split.

Vice-Rector for Science and Quality, Prof. Igor Jerković Ph.D. pointed out that this year we are having a record number of activities and celebrating University of Split’s 50th anniversary, so the Festival serves as a means of promoting science and 50 years of research at University of Split. In addition to the city of Split, the activities also cover Kaštela, Omiš, Sinj and Trilj. The Festival is intended for all age groups, and its goal is to popularize science, and I hope that everyone will find something for themselves during the Science Festival’s five days.

Words of support to the Festival were also sent by Deputy Prefect of Split-Dalmatia, Stipe Čogelja, and Mayor of Split Prof. Ivica Puljak Ph.D., who congratulated University of Split for hosting European University Games to be held in Split in 2028.
