On Monday, November 10, 2025, in SEECEL’s Hall A1, a panel titled "Processes of Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions through European University Alliances" took place, organized by University of Zagreb as part of University Week celebrations.
The panel was moderated by Prof. Jurica Pavičić Ph.D., University of Zagreb’s Vice-Rector for International and Inter-Institutional Cooperation, who emphasized that European university alliances are drivers of change in higher education, encouraging knowledge exchange, development of joint programs, and strengthening the European Higher Education Area.
Introductory remarks were delivered by Loredana Maravić M.Sc., Head of the Higher Education Development Sector at the Ministry of Science, who presented current national policies and perspectives on internationalization in higher education.
The panel discussion involved vice-rectors and heads of Croatian universities involved in European alliances:
Prof. Tomislav Josip Mlinarić Ph.D. (University of Zagreb - UNIC),
Prof. Zoran Đogaš Ph.D. (University of Split - SEA-EU),
Prof. Anita Pavić Pintarić Ph.D. and Prof. Zvjezdan Penezić Ph.D. (University of Osijek - EU-CONEXUS),
Prof. Marta Žuvić Ph.D. (University of Rijeka - YUFE),
Prof. Mato Brautović Ph.D. (University of Dubrovnik - EUNICoast).
A significant part in the discussion was dedicated to representative of University of Split—Prof. Zoran Đogaš Ph.D., Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Cooperation with Local Community, and SEA-EU’s Project Leader. He highlighted the contribution of the SEA-EU alliance in promoting international cooperation and exchanging of best practices among member institutions. He also introduced an innovation—the Mobility Credit Transfer System (MCTS), which will enable a modern, efficient, and transparent transfer of academic credits. This idea was emphasized as an important element of future education and further higher education internationalization.
