Thirteenth edition of the festival Flumas once again confirmed its status as one of most important educational and artistic platforms for young flutists in the region. With a tradition spanning 15 years, the festival once again brought together talented musicians from Croatia and abroad, providing them the opportunity to improve their skills with top international artists.

The Flumas festival was launched in 2013, at the initiative of Prof. Ana Domančić Krstulović, with the aim of providing young flutists with an accessible, yet top-notch education. The main project sponsor from the very beginning has been the Aleph Arts Organization, which has been systematically developing and implementing significant musical projects for decades, and this year's edition was realized in valuable cooperation with Prof. Vesna Podrug Kossjanenko.

This year's program was marked by guest appearances by prominent international artists. While lectures and intensive lessons took place at Split Academy of Arts, gala concerts were held at City of Split’s Gothic Hall and the Vitturi Castle in Kaštela. Participants had the opportunity to learn from Karl-Heinz Schütz, the Vienna Philharmonic’s solo flautist, whose experience from the top of world orchestral scene represents an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration. Riccardo Ghiani, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari orchestra’s first flute, arrived from Italy, introducing participants to the elegance and pedagogical depth of the Italian flute school.

A special role at the festival was played by the renowned pianist Francesca Carta, one of the most sought-after accompanists in Europe. In addition to artistic accompanying participants, she also gave a specialized accompanist seminar for pianists, providing them with valuable insight into specific skills needed for top-notch chamber collaboration. Her rich international experience, as well as collaborations with leading names in the world of flute playing, further enriched the festival’s educational aspect.

Apart from educating, the festival significantly contributed to Split’s cultural and touristic offer, confirming its role as an important centre of artistic events.
