Ceremonial celebration of University's Day, which this year marks its 52nd anniversary, took place on June 16, in School of Medicine’s amphitheater.
"A wide range of study programs, increasingly strong scientific output, successful participation in international projects, and intensive mobility of students and staff confirm that the University is achieving standards to be expected of a modern higher education institution," said Minister Radovan Fuchs, expressing confidence that newly elected rector, Prof. Nikola Koceić-Bilan Ph.D., would continue to develop University and, through his work and personal touch, further strengthen University of Split’s position as one of key holders of higher education and scientific development in Croatia.
In his speech, Rector and academician Dragan Ljutić reflected on results achieved over the past eight years.
"We continuously monitor needs of the city, county, and wider region, shaping new educational content based on them" Rector Dragan Ljutić said, adding that Split today is a city that leaves a strong impression on international partners with its cultural heritage, academic environment and quality of life. The combination of rich tradition and modern development is one of the greatest advantages and the foundation on which future successes will be built.
As part of the celebration, University of Split awarded plaques to:
-Prof. Janoš Terzić Ph.D. for outstanding work in the scientific field
-Blanka Milić Roje Ph.D. for outstanding work in the scientific field
-Prof. Emerita Mirna Saraga Babić for outstanding work in the scientific field
-Dijana Kozomara for outstanding work in the professional field
-Prof. Dragan Poljak Ph.D. for outstanding work in the scientific field
-Prof. Emerita Vesna Barić Punda for outstanding work in the scientific field.
The celebration was preceded by a mass at the Cathedral of St. Domnius, led by its parish, Prof. Ante Mateljan Ph.D. Numerous University staff, professors and students, led by Rector Dragan Ljutić, gathered in joint prayer.
